The Ferroperm Piezoceramics webinar series is developed by our R&D division in context of the Innovation Hub initiative. The 2023 spring installment includes four 1-hour webinars on various topics within the realm of piezoelectricity and piezoceramics, presented by some of the world's foremost experts.
All webinars will be live-streamed via Zoom. Participation is free of charge and only requires you to sign up beforehand.
Presenters:
In this webinar, we will examine the various coefficients in the piezoelectric matrix, exploring how each of them can be determined, and how they are affected by factors such as temperature, time and frequency. Furthermore, we will provide instructions on how to establish a rudimentary finite element analysis model, including building it using COMSOL software and obtaining results in COMSOL, OnScale and PZFlex, respectively.

Presenter: Charles Mangeot, product manager at Ferroperm Piezoceramics
In this webinar, we will present different designs of piezoelectric actuators, highlighting their features and applications. We will analyze how the design and specified properties define the behavior and performance of actuators in given applications and introduce best practices in terms of selection and operation. Finally, design limitations will be presented, including thermal and dynamic effects.

In this webinar, we will take a thorough look at a new group of lead-free ceramics with promising electromechanical potential, namely oxygen-defective metal oxides. While innately non-piezoelectric, these compounds can still achieve great actuation as bulk ceramics and thin films. We will examine their performance on the nanoscale and how they are impacting system design and processing technologies. In addition, seed work on additive manufacturing of electromechanically functional ceramics will be presented.

In this webinar, we will look into how Spice- and Finite Element Software can be used to model piezoelectric devices.. Suggestions for when to use one or the other will be given alongside best practice advise on how common simulation errors and pitfalls can be avoided. Subsequently, we will analyze practical examples of modelled piezoelectric devices and compare the simulation to the real-life results. While not a crash course, this webinar will provide a good baseline for further exploration of the subject.
